Wow, it's been, like, forEVER

One thing I've realized since going back to work is that there is very little that I can say publicly about my job. We're constantly getting nagged at about what the public sees, and I've come to realize that teachers have no private life. I can't put something in an email, on Facebook, on my blog, hell, I can barely think something in my BRAIN, without it being subject to public scrutiny. And heaven FORBID I say/write/post/think something negative about one of the little angels that crosses my threshold every day...sigh.

Not only that, but I just don't have TIME anymore! Mondays are, well, Mondays; Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are taken up with band; Wednesdays are the only day that is left to me during the week to watch TV/do laundry/check my email/talk to my husband/play with my daughter/blog about whatever. Whew.

Anyway, I've used up my daily allotment of 10 minutes at the computer before bedtime, so I will leave you with this thought: classy girls wear panties.
And...one or two of Charlotte's 1 Year birthday pictures. I'm not sure if I'm "allowed" to put them on here, but 'tis better to seek forgiveness and all, so here ya go!

Updates

I just realized that it's been almost a week since I've written anything, which is just about the longest I've gone. I felt bad, loyal reader, so I thought I'd drop in with a few updates:

Charlotte woke up last Sunday morning with a temperature of about 103. Since she was born, they told us to call for anything over 100.4, so of course I promptly freaked right out. I called the after-hours doctor and they didn't seem concerned, which unfortunately didn't do much to make me feel better. Poor Charlotte was just feeling horrible--I could barely stand to touch her she was so hot, and she was just lying around all day, not interested in playing or eating or anything.

I took her to the doctor on Monday, who pretty much said the same thing as the on-call doctor said...then she gave me some amoxicillin, which: duh, that doesn't really do anything for the flu. Oh well, I suppose it was meant to make me feel better. By Tuesday, Charlotte appeared to be feeling better, though she still slept a lot. On Wednesday, Mommy had to go back to work, so Charlotte and her germs went back to Ms. Terri's. Ah, the joys of daycare. I keep telling myself that her immune system will be the stronger for it.

Last night was Homecoming on the Ridge...and that's all I'm going to say about that. Really.

OK I lied. There are two things. First, classy girls wear panties. Second, by the time Charlotte is going to dances, I'm afraid that the "in" thing to do will be to just dispense altogether with the pretense of a "dress" and just go naked. Seriously, don't these girls' mothers CARE about what their daughters are wearing?

Where did MY baby go?

One of the things I've always been kind of smug about is how good Charlotte sleeps. For the last 11 months, you could almost literally set your watch by her naps and bedtimes...and then comes Saturday, September 12. Oh.MY.goodness. Apparently aliens kidnapped my child yesterday and replaced her with the no-sleep monster. All day, she had about 30 minutes total sleep, most of which was in the car. Mommy, on the other hand...Let's just say I usually nap when she does, so Mommy was a bit grumpy for most of the day.

We were supposed to go to the Florida State/Jacksonville State game in Tallahassee, but decided not to because of the incredibly bad weather--and judging by how badly the team played for most of the game, I think we made the right choice. I would NOT have been happy if we'd driven all the way up there for THAT. 'nuff said.

We had pizza for dinner last night, which Moo thoroughly approved of, even though she wore more than she ate:

This is the elusive Moofish:
And we had to put a new gate on her door, since Hunter broke the other one...she's all, "Why is Daddy in a cage...?"

The Littlest Seminole

Charlotte was so excited for her first big Florida State game this year...or Mommy was excited and projected onto Charlotte. Whatever.
We went to visit Papaw and Gigi, who had some fun new toys for Charlotte to play with:

Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Ron's to have dinner and watch the big game!

Go Noles!

Finally

I finally have more than 30 seconds to sit at my computer. I had this entire thing planned in my head to rant about the stupidness of the uproar over the Obama speech, but now I can't seem to work up the energy to write it out. I'm so tired of hearing about it. If you don't want your President (and if you live in the US, he is YOUR President, regardless of whether you voted for him) to encourage your children to stay in school and work hard, then fine. Keep them out of school for the day. That'll show HIM, won't it? Keep your child out of school, allow him or her--force him or her even--to miss an ENTIRE day of instruction to avoid a 30-minute speech. Encourage that sense of patriotism and citizenship that's so strong in our youth today. Go ahead, parents! Show that socialist in the White House!!!
ok, rant off. Seriously. Get over it. There are so many more things to worry about.

In other news, last night was horrible. Just...awful. I was SO excited for our first football game--which was also, incidentally, my first football game as the color guard instructor--excited and nervous and so exhausted that I was running on pure adrenaline. Just as we got lined up to march out to the stadium, we got word that there was a rain delay. About 2 seconds later, a couple of the deans came in and said that they had to bring people in from the stadium, and they were bringing them into the band building. Whee. They proceeded to usher in BOTH cheerleading teams (did I mention whee?) and about 50 spectators, who crowded in with my guard, and things only went downhill from there.

The game didn't start until after 9 pm, almost 2 hours later than its original 7:30 start time. The band left after half time, thankfully, but I still didn't get home until after 12:30, and I have been absolutely dragging all day long. Charlotte stayed at my mom's last night, so even though I missed her terribly, I did get to sleep in a little.

I got up this morning all ready to start grading the 150 or so essays I brought home...only to discover that I did not in fact bring them home. Le sigh. Have some Moo.

This.

Now...I have a standing, scooting, smiling, chatterbox baby girl with more personality than she knows what to do with. How did this happen? One month from today...Moo will be a year old!
